Our client is a major, global manufacturer and distributor of one of the largest ranges of food packaging products in a choice of materials including:- clear plastic OPS, APET, PVC and HIPS; microwaveable plastic PP, aluminium, paperboard, moulded pulp and foam, enabling it to supply all areas of the foodservice, retailer and processor sectors.

The Company is at an exciting stage of its development and, having recently invested heavily in order to capitalise on industry changes which are creating significant new marketing opportunities, is poised for substantial further growth.

To ensure the business continually and rapidly reacts to ever changing market demands, the Technical Director, through a small team of Development Engineers, will lead and co-ordinate all technical, process and material development activities. Acting as the vital catalyst between the customers, both in the UK and Europe, and the sales, manufacturing and quality functions, you will be expected to keep the Company at the forefront of the industry by evaluating commercial opportunities, exploring new processes and manufacturing techniques and developing partnerships with major raw materials, tooling and equipment suppliers.

Educated to degree level in an Engineering/Materials Science discipline and with a reputation as a creative and commercially astute technical innovator, you will have a proven track record in a plastics packaging environment, ideally with a knowledge of thermoforming and extrusion processes.
