Our client is one of the world's largest packaging groups with manufacturing plants on every major continent, providing the key players in food retail with a wide range of sustainable packaging. Demand for its innovative product range continues to accelerate, especially in the European market. Never content to rest on its laurels, this dynamic organisation is also acquiring other successful packaging companies whose products dovetail its impressive portfolio.

As a result of recent reorganisation, this new role has been created to provide an exceptional career opportunity for a person with substantial grocery retail experience to play a major role in future strategic business direction and sales development activities.

You will be based in any major European country, but travel extensively across the continent, supporting local sales teams by developing high-level relationships with Europe's top food retail groups. You will identify and develop business opportunities, anticipate and understand their requirements, influence and drive their packaging formats and ensure our client becomes or remains their supplier of choice as well as that of their suppliers. Working directly with the VP Marketing and sector heads to achieve divisional goals, you will shape NPD by identifying products which give opportunities for profitable growth, maintain a database of retailer intelligence and competitor activity, analyse competitor products and drive new product launches born out of retailers design briefs.

You will be educated to degree level and fluent in English and at least one other European language. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be a proven relationship builder. Your well honed commercial acumen gained from your substantial experience in marketing, sales, retail grocery or packaging, will have given you a good appreciation of the structure and trends prevalent in the European retail grocery market.
