Our client is part of a major stock - quoted, packaging group and one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of folding cartons. The client requires an ambitious and experienced Carton Board Buyer to join its team in controlling a £multi - million spend and benefit from the opportunity for personal and professional development in this international environment.
MAIN TASKS:
• Work on own initiative to introduce alternative board suppliers in order to meet additional production demand
• Negotiate effective contracts with suppliers and draw up contract documentation
• Analyse tenders and recommend alternatives
• Develop effective internal communication with Production, Scheduling, Sales, Finance, IT departments to ensure that the company’s interests are paramount with suppliers
• Monitor and identify monthly cost savings
• Identify and apply corrective actions and improvements
• Manage supplier performance through supplier review meetings
• Meet and negotiate with suppliers’ representatives, as requires
• Provide other administrative support, as required
THE CANDIDATE:
Candidates will ideally be of graduate calibre with IPS qualifications and must have experience of buying carton board, or other, paper based packaging e.g. corrugated. He/she will demonstrate a strong track record of effective purchasing, senior negotiations and supplier management and an excellent understanding of supplier cost avoidance techniques. We are looking for a strong achiever, with the self motivation required to set and achieve objectives and prioritise, to complete work within strict timescales. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Packages (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) is essential.
